Job SummaryThe Director of Operations (DOO) works with the Dean of the College of Health and Human Services to ensure all financial, personnel, information technology, facilities, grant, research, and extended education operations run in accordance with CSU, CSULB, and CHHS policies to support student growth in both state-side and self-support programs. The position will be instrumental in ensuring that CHHS follows the best business and human resources practices to ensure the best possible educational outcomes and experiences for students, faculty and staff.The DOO designs and oversees the training and on-boarding of college staff and develops formulae to inform shifts in the human resource and financial infrastructure to advance the college enterprise and support growth. While the ASM is a direct report of the dean, it also has a dotted line report to the DOO. The DOO works in concert with the Dean and the ASM to actualize the financial and human resource functions of the college. The DOO works closely with the Dean and the ASM to support and advance operations in relation to financial, personnel, facilities, and IT units.Key ResponsibilitiesProvides direct report leadership for the college IT and Facilities units and is a critical member of the college leadership team in the planning and execution of the college financial and HR functions.Analyses of human and financial infrastructures to support state-side and self-support growth.Development and refinement of formulae to inform resources distributions. Refinement of financial and HR related processes, practices, and polices to optimize CHHS business enterprise. Knowledge Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of PeopleSoft, Microsoft suite, budgeting and financial analysis skill, advanced Excel knowledge.Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."Education and ExperienceEight years or related experience in overseeing a large and complex business unit comprised of multiple disciplines with multiple funds. Related education may be substituted for experience.Five-year experience managing in a governmental or public educational setting, University experience preferred.Five-year experience in managing multiple staff lines.Experience in facilities-related fields preferred.Experience in technology-related fields preferred.Terminal degree preferred.Physical SummarySedentary work -Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects.
