Job Summary . • Lead, guide and advise Department Heads on forecasting, budgeting, and finance operations/issues.• Recommend on current and future operations' analysis and interpretation.• Establish and execute cost reduction initiatives as needed and communicate with management.• Review and maintain all contracts and service agreements in compliance with company standards.• Develop operational finance tools by carrier and product.• Execute designated regional improvement processes and enhanced cash flow initiatives.• Monitor professional development of hotel and region's staff to ensure meeting of training, professional development and property needs. Trains, mentors and offer career development opportunities through quality management activities.• Update on emerging technology changes and innovations through reading of business and professional publications, networking and involvement in professional organizations.• Analyzes financial data of operations in order to educate and advise hotel staff and management on the value and benefits of internal controls and maintaining an efficient operation. Assists and counsels all department heads in the interpretation of financial data and recommends courses of action to maximize profitability.• Monitors and approves all sales, purchases, salaries, and expenses of the hotel.• Prepares, reviews, and presents the Monthly Report of Operations. Prepares the monthly, three and six month projections and budgets throughout the year and advises hotel management, regional office, corporate office, and owners of any major variances and their impact on the operation.• Prepares forecasts and budgets as required (Annual, Revised Annual, Monthly, and/or on Corporate/Owner's requests). Develops and monitors internal controls to safeguard hotel assets. Maintains adequate internal control over revenues, expenses, assets and liabilities of the hotel and ensure accounts are maintained according to GAAP and Uniform System of Accounts.• Hires, trains, and supervises Finance Department staff including coaching, counseling, and discipline. Direct accounting staff to ensure accurate accounting and timely reporting of financial data to department heads, hotel management, corporate office, and owners in accordance with GAAP and Langham guidelines.• Ensures that all licenses, permits, and insurance policies are current and comply with local, state, and Federal laws. Monitors all contracts and agreements and advises hotel management of the terms, conditions and benefits.• Assumes cash management responsibilities, including preparation of statement of cash flow and, if necessary, statement of changes in financial position. Establishes and audits all internal financial controls, including purchasing, cash handling and disbursements, inventories, hotel equipment, master keys, and personnel time records.• Provides financial oversight of the capital expenditure process. Ensures capital projects are completed timely and within established critical path and financial projections. Conducts post completion audits of capital projections.• Ensures hotel complies with Corporate Policies and governmental rules and regulations.• Reports irregularities and non-compliant situations to Managing Director and Regional/Corporate Finance.• Assumes leadership role in the education of supervisory staff in financial management.• Ensures timely completion of all balance sheet account reconciliations.• Ensures that the best interest of the hotel and owners are protected. Seeks legal advice, if deemed necessary.• Ensures compliance with financial record retention policies.• Administers the competitive bidding process.• Cooperates with Internal/External audits. Implements agreed upon recommendations.• Ensures timely customer satisfaction (external and internal) on accounting related inquiries and requests.• Ensure hotels labor control software and systems are in place. Ensure labor meetings are conducted weekly and works with operational leadership to ensure compliance. In addition, follows all federal, state and local payroll regulations including but not limited to time and attendance. • Oversees responsibilities of computer networking operations and computer applications within the hotel.• Attends other departmental meetings to keep appraised of other operations and to provide outside input to enhance the department's operation.• Performs other duties which may be assigned by the Managing Director, Regional Finance and/or Corporate Finance.SALARY RANGE: $155,000.00 TO $180,000.00 ANNUALLY Requirement . • Five years Financial Controller Experience in Hospitality Accounting operations, a portion of which should be in the luxury sector (preferred).• Luxury resort and/or hospitality experience (preferred).• Ability to generate all financial reports, including profit & loss statement, income statement, etc.• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft word, excel and PowerPoint.• Ability to assemble, analyze, understand integrated spreadsheets and complex technical information.• Prioritization skills necessary to meet deadlines.• Strong presentation skills.• Effective management, leadership, organizational and communications skills.• Proficiency in Sun, BirchStreet and Micros System preferred.• Ability to work flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays.• At least five years' experience in direct supervision and management.• Four-year college degree preferred. • Knowledge of business law, federal, state, and local taxes, as well as Department of Labor regulations• Knowledge of insurance, employee benefits, claims and liability• Knowledge of Uniform Systems of Accounting• Activities include talking, seeing, feeling, fingering, hearing, touching, grasping, lifting.• Endures various physical movements throughout the work areas.• Sitting to a large degree up to 80 % of work day • Considerable repetitive motion of hands and wrists as relates to the use of computer keyboards and other office machines.• Exerts physical effort in transporting 10lbs to 20lbs• Must possess a high degree of financial acumen and able to work comprehensively with spreadsheets, forecasts and budgeting packages.• Quality driven with a passion for excellence in guest service and satisfaction.• Approachable, open minded and fair; must possess the ability to communicate effectively within various levels of colleague and managers throughout the hotel.• Must be able to work in a team and independently on occasions.• Excellent administrative, time management & organizational skills.• Awareness and sensitivity to the concept of luxury and quality.
