JOB TITLE: Design Engineer (Sustaining Applications)
DEPARTMENT: Engineering
REPORTS TO: General Manager
LOCATION: Waverly, Iowa
OVERVIEW: In this diversified position, you will engage in the creation of design layouts, detail drawings, and bills of materials for new and existing products. This includes providing sustaining engineering support to the operations. You will work with the team to ensure that the objectives of a project are met, such as cost down, quality improvements, manufacturability, and project timelines. Other areas of focus include working with the manufacturing team to design tools and fixtures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design of welded structures, mechanical systems, and related assemblies.
Create 3-D model designs and assembly drawings with attention to detail.
Update bills of materials with proper revision protocols.
Work on and develop solutions to problems of limited scope.
Expected to provide technical guidance and assistance in areas of expertise.
Suggest methods to improve quality, productivity, manufacturability, and cost.
Work with manufacturing to nest parts on laser.
QUALFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent. Practical experience of 3-5 years.
Proven experience in the manufacturing of heavy equipment or related industry is desired.
Strong orientation towards quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
2+ years of drafting experience in Creo and/or Solid Works required.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
Experience designing welded structures.
Experience designing hydraulic/electrical control systems desirable.
Strong understanding of mechanical structure assembly processes. Proper torque and hardware applications.
Salary Range - $80-$120K
