Our primary mission is to protect our clients from insurance companies that refuse to live up to their promises and pay their policyholders when they need them the most. If you become part of our team, you will play an important role in helping us provide a compassionate and outstanding customer experience.
The ideal candidate will have at 5-10 years of paralegal experience, be able to draft pleadings, motions and other court filings, prepare discovery, write correspondence, meet with clients, be familiar with filing documents with the court, process service, and track and follow up on calendaring and deadlines. The ideal candidate MUST be able to take initiative on work that needs to be done, be able to complete tasks with minimal supervision, be willing to perform administrative tasks, and have prior experience assisting with trials.
The office uses PCs, Clio for Case Management, and Microsoft OneDrive. The office is a paperless office. The ideal candidate will have used all of the above, or similar, on a daily basis for 3 months or more.

Overview:
Paralegals perform substantive billable or productive legal work under the direction of one or more attorneys in the office. A Paralegal's primary goal is to support our legal team with legal research, drafting demands, memos, discovery requests and responses, overviews, motions, and orders, and preparing for hearings and trials.
Reporting Relationship:
Paralegals perform their duties under the direction of one or more attorneys to whom they may be assigned. Paralegals' employment relationship with the Firm is managed by the Firm Administrator.
Authority:
Paralegals are prohibited by the ABA's rules of Professional Conduct and State Bar Association rules from practicing law. All work done by Paralegals must be in support of and under the direct supervision of an attorney. In dealing with clients, Paralegals must be careful not to inadvertently slip into the unlawful practice of law. This would include answering client questions about what will happen in their case or recommending that a client undertake a certain course of action during their case.
The Paralegal is a non-exempt position.
Responsibilities: Organizing files Docketing (scheduling) events Filling out legal forms and assisting clients with filling out forms Drafting demand letters Drafting letters and simple court documents for attorney review Writing reports and legal documents for attorney review Thorough legal research into new and novel issues, verifying case law, and reviewing legislation Preparing discovery and responses to discovery demands Meeting with clients to review discovery responses Communicating with clients with updates and gathering information Helping attorneys prepare cases for hearings Assisting lawyers in the courtroom
