The Chief of Equity, Diversity and Opportunity (EDO) is responsible for collaboratively advancing the division's strategic goals and objectives related to equity and diversity , in support of the Superintendent and the School Board. In partnership with Division and School Leaders, the EDO Chief and their team will lead the planning, implementation and monitoring of programs that promote and sustain culturally responsive classrooms, support communities of belonging among students and staff, and advance the mission and vision of HCPS to serve a diverse student and staff population that continues to grow and change.
The EDO Chief will work with Division Leaders, schools and community members to develop goals and strategies in the next iteration of the strategic plan (******** ) to advance HCPS' commitment to equity, diversity and opportunity for all students. Essential Duties
ESSENTIAL TASKS

• Collaborate with the Department of Learning in developing curricula and instructional support related to the Division's goals to close achievement gaps and support diverse learners in rigorous pathways.
• Collaborate with the Department of Human Resources in the development of strategies for recruitment and retention of a diverse workforce equipped to support a diverse student population.
• Collaborate with the Department of Professional Learning to identify and offer staff training and professional learning to support and advance the division's diversity and equity values and efforts.
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with community organizations to promote, coordinate and advance the division's vision.
• Coordinate and develop effective communication strategies to enhance and support cultural diversity and issues of equity, in coordination with the Communications Department.
• Facilitate the work of and serve as Ex-Officio on the Equity and Diversity Advisory Committee (EDAC), in accordance with the EDAC bylaws.
• In collaboration with other Departments and School Leaders, lead and develop equity and diversity strategies in HCPS schools such as student Equity Ambassadors, and coordinate the work of school based Equity Champions.
• Lead division efforts related to diversity-related celebrations and recognition activities throughout the year.
• Actively assist in monitoring, measuring and assessing programs related to the division's progress toward achieving its diversity goals; and recommend strategies and opportunities to advance the Strategic vision for equity and diversity in new and evolving ways.
• Collaborate with the Department of Family Engagement and Community Engagement to ensure programs and strategies are designed for and responsive to the diverse needs of HCPS families.
• Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of issues relating to diversity, multi-cultural proficiency, and equity affairs in public PreK-12 education; an ability to work collaboratively with many different HCPS departments, schools and leaders; knowledge of local, state and federal laws related to schools, employment and protected classes; demonstrated experience developing and managing internal and external diversity communications; ability to work with diverse populations within the organization and the community; strong written and oral communication skills; ability to manage thoughtfully the personal and organizational dynamics related to equity issues within HCPS; ability to analyze facts and present recommendations effectively in oral and written form; and above all, a personal interest and commitment to diversity, multiculturalism, and issues of equity; the Chief must have a capacity for teamwork and for developing sensitive working relationships with students, potential employees, and faculty, staff, and members of the community; the Chief also must be a self-starter, possess strong people and project management skills, and demonstrate a deep concern and compassion for people.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Master's Degree in education or related field required. A minimum of three (3) years of successful experience in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating, equity programs in K-12 public schools and at least three years of successful classroom experience preferred.
A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Experience in a multi-cultural environment is preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

*Minimum annualized salary - $116,467.98 ( The salary for this position will be prorated based upon the official start date).
