POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Coordinator of Heritage and Mission provides for student opportunities in spiritual formation and faith development as well as service to the local and global community. Additionally, the Coordinator is charged with assessing the spiritual needs of the Academy community and acts in an advisory role to identify ways to address those needs. He/She will also serve the community through teaching MS and/or US Theology classes. Thoughtful alignment between spiritual formation and our mission and core values is a key element of this role.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Community of Faith & Mission Models and promotes the mission of the Academy, and collaborates with the Principals and other administrators to ensure that the mission and identity of the Academy are nurtured and developed into all facets of the school community. Invites Academy community members to take ownership of the mission through professional development, in-service experiences, workshop activities, etc. Develops materials and formation experiences to assist various constituents (faculty/staff, students, families, board members) with understanding the charism and mission of Ursuline Academy. Provides daily prayers for the school community, and collaborates with students, Principals and the Upper School Music Teacher in planning all liturgies and prayer services. Plans and coordinates retreats for faculty, staff, and students in the Middle and Upper Schools. Creates opportunities for student leadership development through spiritual formation programs and activities. Collaborates with the counseling team in providing spiritual guidance, crisis intervention, and supportive presence for students. Service (Serviam) Program In conjunction with the Upper School Dean of Students and Divisional Principals, manages, grows, and monitors service opportunities. Organizes and promotes special service opportunities such as the Serviam Recognition Ceremony, ARC party, and Ursuline Day of Service on MLK Day. Monitors service records following specific divisional timelines/requirements. Guides the process of selecting students to receive annual service recognition awards, both internal and external. Collaborates with Global Education Coordinator to plan student service-learning trips. Academic Environment Teaches Middle School religion courses; and is available to teach other theology or leadership courses, as needed. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated by the teacher schedule distributed by the Principal.  Inspires students through enthusiasm for course content and student growth. Develops and maintains a safe and inviting classroom environment conducive to learning. Demonstrates proficiency through careful lesson planning and content expertise. Continually assesses curriculum and teaching to ensure inclusiveness for ability, race, ethnicity, and socio-economic sensitivity. Alignment with Mission, Core Values, and Portrait of an Ursuline Educator Actively upholds the school policies and procedures detailed in the Employee Handbook and Faculty Handbook. Attends school liturgies, prayer services, retreats, and other mission-directed events or activities, as planned. Actively monitors and ensures student adherence to Student Handbook policies and procedures. Models desired behaviors for students both in and out of the classroom, including maintaining standards of classroom and school behaviors. Enthusiastically engages in professional development activities designed to support professional growth.  QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in a related field; Master's degree preferred. Experience in youth ministry, campus ministry or similar role.  At least one year of teaching experience in a related field. Deep understanding of and respect for the Catholic faith tradition.  Demonstrated understanding of educational technology integration in the classroom. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including presentation, listening and observational skills.  Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management skills including the ability to plan and manage projects.  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, parents, volunteers and school administration from diverse backgrounds.  Ability to navigate challenging situations with discretion and diplomacy. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.  Passion for bettering the lives of students.  Willingness to be an active, enthusiastic member of the Ursuline community. Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times regarding the Ursuline community. About Ursuline Academy
