We are proud to offer an immediate opportunity in Fitchburg WI for an experienced Buyer. This is a 3+ month contract with a competitive pay rate. General Purpose of the job: The Buyer/Planner has the primary responsibility of ensuring material availability to support the Project Management/Production schedules. Other responsibilities include managing inventory levels, supporting material revisions, interacting/coordinating with suppliers on a variety of topics, and supporting other business functions as required.
Duties and Responsibilities: Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Maintain the integrity of MRP planning parameters (costing, lead times, safety stock etc).
Place purchase orders with suppliers for the procurement of production material as required by MRP and production schedule.
Monitor status of open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery of all materials, including timely resolution, communication and mitigation of future potential problems.
Expedite or defer orders as required based on schedule.
Coordinate material flows throughout BOM changes, obsolescence, and the introduction of new suppliers or materials due to new product development.
Manage and resolve issues regarding PO to invoice discrepancies, returns, and quality problems with suppliers.
Communicate with Suppliers, both via phone and email, to ensure on time delivery and lead time accuracy.
Generate and issue reports to Direct Manager and Project Managers to advise of deviations in delivery dates.
Timely and precise processing of purchase orders.
Any additional duties assigned by Manager.
Requirements: Minimum of 2-4 years' experience in buyer/planner function required
Experience with NetSuite preferred
Sound time management skills, strong sense of urgency, and attention to detail
Excellent organization, communication, and follow up skills
Experience in production and inventory control
Experience working with machine shops, PCB fabrication, or similar experience preferred
Comfortable interacting with engineering groups; occasionally acting as the liaison between external vendors and internal designers
Knowledge of commonly used procurement concepts, practices, and procedures
Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
