Position Summary: A buyer is a member of the Procurement team reporting to the Purchasing Manager and is responsible for supporting the supply chain management system. The Buyer owns the procurement process, from RFQ to invoicing. The Buyer is expected to select vendors based on an assessment of risk factors and manage orders through completion with minimal supervision. Negotiation, communication, and expediting skills are required. Any individual in this position will be required to work with a team-first mindset at all times. The employee is also expected to operate with a moderate level of autonomy due to the fast-paced nature of the business.
Essential Functions: Responds to demand using the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) softwareCreates a Request for Quote (RFQ) packageNegotiates price and delivery schedules with vendorsAwards vendors based on vendor capability, price, and risk factorsMonitors and controls orders once placed, maintaining records within the ERP system, the company database, and various reporting tools in Microsoft officeExpedites orders as required, including occasional visits to vendors locationsTracks and organizes off-site testing at vendor locations with the project management team as requiredReviews completeness of orders and certification packages with the quality team to provide shipping release to vendorsEnsures completion of open items within the ERP system to assist accounts payable with invoicesAssists in review of potential vendors for compatibility with the NCI supply chain management systemProvides weekly status reports to the Purchasing Manager on open and upcoming ordersAttends a variety of internal and external meetings – the buyer is expected to be well prepared and to bring valuable insight to the meetings as an active participantIs a willing and active participant in workshops, seminars, and training eventsOther duties as assignedKnowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise: Exceptional attention to detailCompetence with general computer skills and the use of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.)Knowledge and use of Encompix or similar ERP system is requiredKnowledge and use of a database system is strongly preferredSkilled in the operation of standard office machines including printer, scanner, and faxIndustry knowledge or a willingness to learnMinimum five years' experience in a similar roleTeam-based approachOther Duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Candidates may be required to show a driving abstract with a clean driving history for travel between the NCI facility locations and client offices as required. A valid driver's license is necessary

Failure to comply with Nikkiso Cryo safety requirements will result in disciplinary actions, up to and including termination.

Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 annually.
