Responsibilities Provide oversight on environmental contractor claims portfolios handled by TPAs so as to ensure the claims handling/investigation and evaluation process.
• Rigorous ALAE control and management;
• Thorough coverage investigation and issuance of coverage position letters, as appropriate;
• Proactive gathering and analysis of information necessary to make accurate evaluations of claims and subsequent execution of resolution strategies;
• Establishment of or provision of reserve recommendations pursuant to established procedures;
• Proactive and successful resolution of complex claims with substantial involvement in mediation/settlement negotiations;
• Adherence to best practices and applicable claims handling rules and regulations through file review and audits;
• Timely and accurate adherence to appropriate reporting/escalation requirements;
• Working with program administrator as appropriate to discuss issues, claims, etc.;
• Collaboration with underwriting manager with regard to claim specific issues, trends and other areas of interest; and
• Participation in regular calls, roundtables and conferences on the program.
Qualifications • Significant technical claims handling experience on primary claims under CGL policies; claims handling experience on environmental coverages including environmental impairment, contractors pollution liability and professional liability coverage preferred;
• Must demonstrate in- depth knowledge of coverage, claims handling/investigation and evaluation, including liability and damage analyses with a focus on developing/executing resolution strategies and appropriate use and control of counsel/experts, etc;
• Very strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Ability to incorporate analytical data analysis into oversight;
• Proper adjuster licensing in all applicable states preferred;
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Excel and Word
Education • Bachelor's Degree
• Juris Doctor with litigation experience required
