The PhD in Nursing Program Director is responsible for the oversight, management, implementation, and quality of the PhD program at Georgetown University. All courses are delivered via a campus based or hybrid modality. The PhD in Nursing program has a focus on the impact of health inequities, social justice and the ethics of scholarly work and research. A demonstrated body of work that aligns with the GU SON mission, vision and commitment to anti racism and social justice is central to the success of the candidate.
The PhD in Nursing Program Director is responsible for:
Working collaboratively with the faculty, finance, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) and senior leadership and school administration; directing all matters relating to the PhD curriculum including course development, delivery, quality, and evaluation (including course and faculty evaluations). This includes:
Coordination and monitoring of accreditation requirements (AACN)
Development and implementation of a program evaluation plan
Monitoring and reporting of program outcomes (retention/graduation rates, employment rates, etc.) to the unit administrator
Management, planning and coordination of program operations
Coordination and implementation of the PhD curriculum
Supervision, evaluation and fostering professional development of program faculty
Collaboration with faculty and staff colleagues, as well as leadership to ensure outstanding program graduates and effective planning/implementation of future initiatives
Enhancement of the program's reputation and visibility through engagement in relevant professional activities
Engagement in scholarly activities such as research, publications and grant writing.
The PhD in Nursing Program Director reports to the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs or their designee.
This faculty position is tenured position (TE/T) at Associate or Full Professor rank including scholarship, teaching and service expectations with the following time commitments:
PhD program administration (as Program Director): 50% based on student enrollment and program needs
Teaching: 5 to 10 credits annually
Scholarship: 40%
Service: 10%
The successful candidate will:
Hold a doctoral degree in nursing or related subject
Hold a masters degree in nursing if terminal degree is not in nursing
Hold, or be eligible for RN licensure in the District of Columbia (DC), and in home state if not resident in Washington, DC
Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience
Be eligible for rank at Associate/Full professor standing (tenure eligible) at Georgetown University
Have an active, incremental record of scholarship and research consistent with tenure eligible
Have a demonstrated record of secured funding as a principal investigator from varied agencies (e.g., foundation, NIH, HRSA, etc.)
Have experience in the development, teaching and administration of graduate (doctoral) level educational courses/programs
Have experience teaching in a campus based and hybrid educational formats
