Position opened until filled (or recruitment canceled).College of Liberal Arts Department of Geography Required Qualifications:Ph.D. in Geography or related field with specialization in Remote Sensing. Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1,2024.Demonstrated or potential ability for effective teaching at undergraduate and graduate-level coursesDemonstrated or potential ability to generate funding for applied research and student supportDemonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student populationPreferred Qualifications:Specialization in two or more of the following areas: Small Unoccupied Aerial Systems (sUAS) data collection and analysis, orbital and suborbital image analysis and interpretation, spatial statistics, data analytics, pixel and object-based image analysis and feature extraction, fluency in R and/or Python, applied field experience.Successful grant-seeking record with established ties to research institutions, industry, or government agenciesExperience of successfully working with populations demographically and socioeconomically similar to the CSULB student body (demographics )Duties:Teach lower and upper division courses in our geography and environmental science and policy programs, and at the graduate level in both our Master of Arts and Master of Science in Geographic Information Science degree programs. Specific teaching assignments may include classes in remote sensing, digital image processing, programming, geospatial databases, multi-variate and/or spatial statistics, general education courses or other specialty courses in the candidate's area of expertise.
