Responsibilities
• Maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, on deck, and surrounding areas• Prevents accidents by maintaining constant observation, enforcing health and safety rules, and maintaining emergency readiness• Rescues distressed persons and examines injured persons• Administers first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, if necessary• Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available• Provides great customer service to members, program participants, and guests• Attends staff meetings and trainings• Performs poolside chemical testing• Sets up and stores equipment for recreational swims• Other duties as assigned
Requirements
• You are 16 years of age or older• Strong swimming abilities• Must be observant and able to react calmly, quickly, and with good judgment in an emergency• Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness• Knowledge of diverse populations and ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful• Current state approved first-aid certification and CPR certification• Lifeguard certification• YMCA of Greater Seattle scanning training or equivalent• Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience may be considered
