Aggregates Performance Specialist
POSITION SCOPE

:
To drive the aggregates performance program for the Roofing & Stone division achieving significant manufacturing improvements. Uses the principles of rock mechanics for the solution of engineering and manufacturing problems.
Duties/Responsibilities
Commitment to promoting, improving, and adhering to safety practices and policies in all work environments and areas.
Provide aggregate materials testing & inspection engineering expertise and project management on a wide variety of projects including manufactured stone veneer, roof tiles, lightweight concrete panels, etc.
Direct preparation and/or supervision of junior to intermediate engineering staff on preparation of summary & technical reports, field inspection reports, referencing specifications, and other written documentation.
Prepare cost estimates, schedules and compliance documents, and periodically monitor activities in the field.
Supervise, direct, train, and mentor all field staff and provide leadership in materials testing/inspection and geotechnical disciplines, including compaction testing, concrete/asphalt sampling and testing, pile inspections, etc.
Support laboratory operations and ensure compliance with ASTM requirements, including sieves, proctors, concrete compressive strength, hydrometers, specific gravity, etc.
Prepare proposals and provide key contributions to business development activities, including development of vendor/producer relationships.
Build strong partnership with operations leaders to identify the impact of new business initiatives and successfully integrate and deploy them onsite.
Foster a performance-based culture by leveraging excellent communication, proper stakeholder management, setting expectations, utilizing the right KPIs, voice of customer principles and operational collaboration through performance circles and brainstorming exercises.
Direct oversight of aggregate and concrete performance, from sourcing to finish product applications and approvals.
Technical expert of aggregate and concrete science.
Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB-RELATED QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
Education
Bachelor's/University Degree

in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
Knowledge/Skills
Strong financial acumen with an excellent understanding of aggregate financial statements. Knowledge and experience of aggregates production in hard rock, limestone, and alluvial deposits. Demonstrable mathematic and analytical skills using data to drive decisions in a business environment, back up assumptions and develop business cases. Ability to think strategically and execute methodically. Able to work both independently and in a team environment. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Experience with time management and creating Key Performance Indicators ("KPI's"). Desire to work well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and customer-focused environment. Willingness to travel between plants as required. Must be adaptable to overtime where required to meet project / production deadlines.
Work Experience
6 yrs. minimum experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Licenses or Certificates
ACI Concrete Quality Manager is a plus.
ASQ Manager or Engineer Certification is a plus.
NRMCA Certified Concrete Technologist is a plus.
Physical Demands
General Office Activities - Walking, Standing, Sitting, Talking, Typing, etc.
Driving.
Lifting materials, could be up to 40 pounds.
PHYSICAL HAZARDS -- Health and Safety Concerns
Work safely in an office environment and in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Travel as required.
Pay Range
$88,000 to $114,000
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US markets. The base pay range for this position is $88K to $114K. This range is based on relevant market data in our lowest and highest geographic markets. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, experience and skillset. Westlake is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, sign on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package (also to include a full range of medical and other benefits.
