Position Summary:

Western Colorado University invites applications for the full-time position of Innovative Programs Administrator in the Education Department. This position will oversee the administration of the Adult Degree Completion + Teacher (ADC + TL) Licensure pathway and the Teacher Institute (TI) program. This position will guide students in ADC + TL to fulfill their academic plan, will help licensed teachers pursue their professional goals in the TI program, and provide success initiatives which retain students in both programs. In addition to the administrative and advising functions, this position will promote innovation and growth across existing programs and new initiatives.
Responsibilities:
The Innovative Programs Administrator in Education serves as the primary administrative liaison between the Adult Degree Completion and the Education Departments. This position is responsible for ongoing advising of ADC students to ensure candidates are meeting program and state requirements necessary to be eligible for a teaching license. The Innovative Program Administrator reviews applications, provides guidance for registration, assists with career counseling, initiates and helps execute Registrar forms (substitutions, add/drops, change of major, etc.), and keeps updated on Colorado Department of Education teacher licensure requirements, grants, scholarships, and fellowships to communicate those to advisees. In coordination with ADC and EDUC leadership, this position will serve as an advocate for and promote ADC GS+TL program to internal and external stakeholders. In addition, the Innovative Programs Administrator will lead administrative tasks for the Teacher Institute which offers year-round professional development courses for K-12 educators. This position will work with the Teacher Institute Director in organizing the delivery of professional development courses to educators and provide in person support during the on-campus June Summer Teacher Institute. This position will also provide general administrative support to the department. Finally, the Innovative Programs Administrator will grow and promote existing and new initiatives, partnerships and pathways for educators within the Education Department to ensure program innovation, growth and development.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline (education, psychology, counseling, administration student affairs, or another related field). Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with students, faculty, staff, families and community members. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to navigate and prioritize a wide variety of tasks, following institutional and departmental procedures with close attention to detail. Experience in growing and promoting existing and new programs and initiatives. Demonstrated ability to work well within a team with a high level of professionalism. Knowledge ow working with adult learners (Andragogy). Proficiency in Customer Relationship Management Software (e.g., Banner, WorkDay). Compensation: The annual salary range is $48,000-52,000 (Depending on experience and qualifications) and is FLSA exempt. Position is eligible for an excellent benefits package including health and dental insurance plans with low co-pays and low out of pocket maximums, generous paid time off, a shared contribution retirement plan and tuition benefits. This is a 12-month position, primarily in-person with some flexibility for a hybrid work schedule.
