Adjunct Job Title: Adjunct, Bridge to Careers: Business
Adjunct Job Description: Position Summary:
This position provides instruction for the Bridge to Careers: Business course for the Basic English as a Second Language (ESL) program in Adult Education and is responsible for providing face-to-face instruction in English to adult learners, age 18 and older who are interested in transitioning into a career as an administrative assistant, office manager, or accountant.
The Bridge to Business ESL course introduces ESL students to important concepts and professional career development skills in preparation for work in a business setting. Students are introduced to workplace hard and soft skills, job search and application procedures, and computer applications as they relate to career preparation and usage within the field of business. Communication skills are practiced with special focus on customer service, interpersonal communication concepts, and English language development. Students will also gain professional development skills in successful resume and application writing, interviewing, and gaining and maintaining employment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


The following are the functions essential to performing this job:


1. Plan lessons based on student needs, career and learning goals, and/or the established core outcomes of the course.
2. Provide student-centered, interactive instruction that covers concepts related to business and accounting, workplace soft skills, digital literacy, and instruction in Microsoft Office programs and QuickBooks. Students will practice this content while building communication in English.
3. Develop and conduct ongoing student assessments
4. Keep accurate student records, to include attendance and grades.
5. Assist with compliance of grant requirements in areas of professional development, attendance, retention, documentation, and assessment.
6. Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing technology in instruction.



Required Minimum Qualifications:


1. Bachelor's Degree
2. Experience teaching or training in a business field



Desired Qualifications:
1. Master's Degree or certificate in TESOL or TEFL
2. Successful experience teaching ESL/EFL/ESOL
3. Successful experience teaching adult learners
4. Successful experience teaching online or in a blended learning environment
5. Excellent oral and written English communication skills
6. Ability to work positively and effectively with students from diverse language, cultural, and educational backgrounds7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Accounting and QuickBooks Pool Number: TS440P
