REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Position reports to the Assistant Accounting Supervisor
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE College Graduate in Accounting required with 1-10 years of experience in accounting or related field. Continuing education in accounting practices required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OBJECTIVES To prepare, maintain, and provide complete financial records and reports in accordance with established Cooperative Accounting Policies and procedures, in accordance with RUS Uniform System of Accounts, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and in accordance with applicable Federal and State Regulations that will contribute to the efficient management of the Cooperative.
RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain a complete set of files on original source documentation, journals, ledgers, statistical and internal and external financial and regulatory reporting for cash receipts, Accounts Receivable, and general accounting functions.
1. The specific major accounting areas/functions that may be assigned are:
Tax Reporting Audit Schedules Internal Auditing Depreciation Maintain all subsidiary accounting information Monthly Board Report Analyses and Board Reports Payroll and payroll reporting Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Bank Reconciliation, Fixed Asset Accounting Monthly General Ledger Entries and Fixed Recurring entries Work Order Accounting Budget 2. Follow Cooperative, OSHA, state, and other regulatory rules and procedures as they pertain to, but not limited to, safety in the workplace.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Database Management Software, Adobe, and QuickBooks.
Must be familiar with or willing to train on the RUS Uniform System of Accounting. Must have comprehensive knowledge of cash receipts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and other related accounting processes. Must be capable of designing and implementing basic accounting worksheets, files, and reports.
WORKING CONDITIONS and PHYSICAL ABILITIES Working hours include 8:00 to 4:30 with one-half hour for lunch. The employee is required to work on a callout basis that will include odd and unusual hours, including Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, or evening and/or night shifts. The incumbent of this classification is required to be available for emergency and/or pre-arranged work whenever called upon. Some travel for training and conferences. The job requires sitting most of the time, primarily inside work at a desk. Repetitive motions with hands and fingers such as dialing and keyboarding are required. Must be able to use office equipment such as a copier, computer, scanner, and printer. Must be able to communicate with individuals and small groups. Minimal exposure to fumes, odors, dust, and dirt. Must be able to read, write, understand, and be able to use accounting formulas. Requires analyzing data and reports, coordinating people and resources, and developing plans. Must be able to present information to others and work under stress.
