CHI St. Alexius Health is a regional health network with a tertiary hospital in Bismarck, the system also consists of critical access hospitals (CAHs) in Carrington, Dickinson, Devils Lake, Garrison, Turtle Lake, Washburn and Williston and numerous clinics and outpatient services. CHI St. Alexius Health manages four CAHs in North Dakota - Elgin, Linton, and Wishek, as well as Mobridge Regional Medical Center in Mobridge, S. D. CHI St. Alexius Health offers a comprehensive line of inpatient and outpatient medical services, including: a Level II Trauma Center, primary and specialty physician clinics, home health and hospice services, durable medical equipment services, a fitness and human performance center and ancillary services throughout western and central North Dakota.

Responsibilities

Works under the direction of the Director. The staffing specialist develops and maintains patterns of staffing for the Department of Nursing. All the criteria-based duties and standards within this document will be performed according to policies, procedures and guidelines within this document and the Medical Center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adheres to St. Alexius Medical Center mission, values, and Journey Beyond Excellence expectations to foster a compassionate, healing environment providing physiological, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and visitors.
Assumes responsibility for daily staffing and scheduling changes, calls staff as needed, and assists with providing staff resources for unit coverage.

Performs daily staffing for designated units utilizing acuity system, variable staffing plans, and flexible resource plans.
Assists in the development and updating of staffing polices for the Department of Nursing.
Maintains accurate information in API scheduling system
Provides information by answering questions and requests.

Assists managers with maintaining and reporting staffing data.
Maintains daily filing, sick logs, report and staffing data.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

High School graduate or equivalent.

Licensure:

N/A

Experience:

One year of secretarial experience desirable. Knowledge of hospital environment helpful.

Skills:

Computer ability with work processing skills required, Word Perfect preferred. Typing required, Knowledge of medical terminology is desired. Organizational skills. Skilled with reading, spelling,and sentence structure.

Interpersonal Skills:

Good communication skills are necessary because of the constant communication, both oral and written, with medical center staff.
