WHY THIS POSITION IS IMPORTANT :
As the Staff Accountant, you perform accounting duties for our $5 million budget nonprofit. You accurately organize and record all of our financial data so that internal and external key stakeholders can make informed decisions that will move our mission forward and impact 126,001 students and educators each year. In this position, you primarily enter all financial transactions into our accounting database, process payroll and maintain accounting practices to ensure accurate and reliable data necessary for business operations.

ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE :
You have a Bachelor's degree in accounting OR at least 2 years of varied and comprehensive accounting experience. You have intermediate or above Excel Spreadsheet skills. You have knowledge of FileMaker Pro or comparable database software. YOU MIGHT ALSO :
Have nonprofit accounting experience. Have knowledge of QuickBooks or QuickBooks Online (recent versions). Be proficient using Mac computers, or be comfortable learning Macs. Have experience using Concur, FileMaker Pro and Blackbaud/Raiser's Edge. ABOUT THE JOB :
You will process biweekly payroll for a staff of 50+ and process monthly and quarterly payroll reports. You will process and enter all donated revenue. You will process and enter all earned revenue. You will operate a Panini desktop deposit scanner for all check bank deposits. You will process employee reimbursements, including weekly per diem payments. You will review employee expense reports in SAP Concur system and ensure coding accuracy. You will prepare and/or review expense invoices, purchase requisitions or other transactions in compliance with approved budgets and procedures. You will collect and file W-9s and contracts from all vendors and annually process and send 1099s. You will process weekly check runs. You will work with our Senior Staff Accountant and auditors on preparing annual audit and 990 documents, information and reports. You will maintain accounting files and file documents on a regular basis. You will review, investigate and correct errors in financial entries, documents and reports. You will complete and file all tax and nonprofit registration documents as mandated by law. You will maintain customer and vendor records. You will provide backup for other accounting and finance functions. You will perform other duties and special projects as apparent or assigned by your Supervisor. OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION :
Successful candidates will be intentional and specific in their cover letter. This position is classified as regular, full-time, non-exempt. The schedule for the position is Monday–Friday, 7am–4pm, 40 hours/week.
