The Axon business is growing rapidly and we are looking for a dedicated and proven Technical Program Manager to join our Virtual Reality team.As a Technical Program Manager, you will leverage your leadership skills and expertise to drive Operational Excellence and scalability of the VR Engineering Department. You'll collaborate with engineering leadership to define key operational metrics and then drive the definition, development, and deployment of processes and systems in support of these metrics. You'll partner with art, design, and content teams to refine our workflows and delivery process. You'll also partner with QA to ensure we're capturing the right data regarding the reliability and robustness of our product and use this data to drive the continued improvement of our operations and product. In short, you will be an outsized force-multiplier allowing us to continually raise the bar regarding how we operate as a team, the quality of our product, and ultimately the measurable impact we will be able to make on society.You will join an interdisciplinary team that is tackling the biggest challenges in public safety training head-on, including immersive VR-based empathy and de-escalation training to help officers engage with the communities they serve with greater awareness and safety. We seek to revolutionize how training is implemented within public safety and we seek to accomplish this while abiding to the following guiding principles:Build VR Solutions for Social Good: With our mission to Protect Life, we develop VR solutions that benefit both law enforcement and the community, while addressing key issues in society.Empower Agencies with Data: Deliver ongoing data and analysis that provide agencies with key insights that enable them to make decisions that result in building better, more efficient, and positive programs.Develop an Active and Diverse Virtual Platform: Leverage the latest in VR technologies to create a robust portfolio of solutions and the highest-quality content, that enable users to be more effective in their roles and manage the challenges of 21st century public safety.What You'll DoLocation:Remote anywhere in the US (although we also have beautiful offices in Seattle, WA and Scottsdale, AZ).Reports to:Director of VR Software EngineeringDirect Reports:NoneDrive process improvements within VR Engineering to build better faster so the teams are more effective and can deliver with higher velocity because of your impact.Understand the cross-discipline needs of the VR pillar as a whole and drive our operations to ensure we are deliberate and enabling partner as we collectively revolutionize law enforcement training.Ensure we're capturing and acting on the right data regarding our operations and technical health.Identify opportunities for automation and own the conversion from manual to automated.Own your dependencies & invent and simplify as you face challenges pushing everyone towards the right outcome.Tracking all major risks/issues/roadmaps towards project execution and ensure clear communication of issuesLeading by example with thoroughness, detail, and care for our teams and customers.Helping teams capture and improve detailed process and software architectural documentation as needed.What You BringBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software/Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or other related field5+ years professional experience in leading and managing system/software delivery, with at least 2 specifically in a technical program management role.2+ years professional experience at a AA/AAA Game Studio in either technical program management, software engineering, or project management role.High degree of competency and proven success with project management including: Agile Software Development Lifecycle methodology, identifying and managing risks, tracking dependencies and milestones, and communicating overall project status.Evidence in work history of owning and driving large, ambiguous technical software programsYou are able to learn quickly and cannot only deal with ambiguity, but can effectively partner with others to reduce ambiguityYou resonate with Axon's Values and our mission that technology can be applied to tackle public safety's biggest challenges.Strong interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, influencing and team buildingStrong written and verbal English communication skillsExperienced with enterprise SaaS or other mission critical software product is a plus.Experienced with cloud IaaS and PaaS offering such as AWS and Azure is a plus.Benefits that Benefit YouRemote first role anywhere in the USCompetitive salary and 401k with employer matchDiscretionary paid time offPaid parental leave for allMedical, Dental, Vision plansFitness ProgramsEmotional & Mental Wellness supportLearning & Development programsAnd yes, we have snacks in our officesBenefits listed herein may vary depending on the nature of your employment and the location where you workL9 The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 120,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 230,000 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
