The role includes responsibilities in gathering and analyzing actionable information and investigating cybercrime and fraud. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESConduct complex internal and external cyber-enabled fraud or cybercrime investigations (which can also include insider threat, misconduct, retail fraud, malware) across multiple business segments from a variety of channels. Prioritize and investigate escalations and referrals from business units on insider threat, data loss prevention, cyber threat intelligence, cyber threat fusion center, fraud risk, law enforcement, public/private partnerships, and global business unittGather evidence and furnish investigative support and consultative services to law enforcement.Analyze data and trends; develop and implement proactive plans and programs to address opportunities.Communicate Global Security's position effectively to both internal and external partners, and fully support Global Security's senior leadership in the development and implementation of initiatives and programs to detect, investigate, and disrupt cybercrime and fraud.Provide strong subject matter expertise in the areas of cybercrime investigations, security and investigative operations, and financial crimes.Conduct industry benchmarking and peer-based analysis of available data, tools, investigative and security methodologies, and risk mitigation practices to assess Global Security coverage.Provide after-hours support, as needed.QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLSDemonstrated record of success in conducting investigations into significant and/or sophisticated cases of financial fraud/cybercrime.Working or academic knowledge of how artificial intelligence is leveraged by cybercriminals to commit fraud.Strong understanding of machine learning principles, GenAI, and emerging GPTs that facilitate cybercrime.Basic understanding of the fundamentals of finance and related transactions. Should have a working knowledge of data processing systems.Able to assemble a case for prosecutors including the gathering of evidence, summarizing findings in well written professional reports and understanding the Company's privacy code regarding the release of information.Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, analytic writing, interpersonal collaborative skills, and the ability to communicate security and risk-related concepts to technical/non-technical audiences and the law enforcement community.DESIRED LEADERSHIP CHARACTERISTICSAbility to prioritize and execute tasks in high-impact or time sensitive situations.Initiative and energy to go beyond minimum requirements of effort and activity; a bias for action and for getting things done.Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships in a complex multi-national corporation.Ability to translate technical cyber concepts to non-technical business partners.Strong problem solver with the ability to use analytical methods for impact.Effective organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to collaborate and influence in a matrixed environment.KNOWLEDGE / SKILLSDemonstrated record of success in conducting investigations, including subject interviewing skills, into significant and/or sophisticated cases of cybercrime and financial fraud.Working knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of finance and related transactions. Must be familiar with products and services offered by American Express, including knowledge of proprietary data processing systems, operations, policies and procedures.Must be skilled in the techniques in assembling a case for prosecutors, including gathering evidence, summarizing findings in well documented/well written reports, and compliance with policies.Strong interpersonal skills to establish credibility and productive relationships with the law enforcement community, service establishments, colleagues, and senior leadership at American Express.Ability to develop and recommend sound, innovative methods, techniques, and programs to prevent and control fraud. Possess strong level of understanding of investigative techniques, OSINT, and intelligence analysis and to detect and resolve criminal activity.Strong verbal and written communication skills, analytic writing, interpersonal collaborative skills, and the ability to communicate effectively.Strong personal initiative, intellectually curious, and knowledgeable about cybercrime ecosystem.EXPERIENCEPrevious experience as a cybercrime investigator or analyst preferred.5+ years' working in one or more areas: machine learning/AI, investigations (fraud or cyber), cyber security operations, fusion center/SOC, or forensics.Possesses the ability to review information to determine its significance, validate its accuracy and assess its reliability.EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONSBachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefitsThe above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
