Description
The University of Alabama at Birmingham and Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine is seeking a Researcher IV candidate to optimize systemic stem/progenitor cell therapy for AMD. The position will be responsible for developing experiments, generating data, publishing scientific articles in the proposed project which involve cell reprogramming with lentivirus technology, mice systemic injection, iPSCs cell culture manipulation, molecular biology techniques, and the analysis of mouse retina functionality through ERG and morphology through OCT.
General Responsibilities Working with a high degree of independence:
* To oversee projects within the laboratory
* To assume responsibility for the day-to-day operation of lab activities.
* To collect, enter, summarize, analyze, and interpret data.
* To contribute significantly to the planning/design of studies.
* To help develop long or short-term goals.
Key Duties & Responsibilities 1. Oversees projects within the laboratory and assumes responsibility for the day to day operation of lab activities.
2. Contributes significantly to the planning/design of studies.
3. Collects, enters, summarizes, analyzes and interprets data.
4. Monitors results, detects and reports unusual outcomes, develops modifications and provides data to management.
5. Participates and helps develop long or short term goals or strategic business objectives.
6. With direction, contributes to grant proposals and assists in the preparation and editing of grant applications.
7. Supervises lab equipment and supplies.
8. Uses advanced knowledge of lab practices to direct and teach others.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary Range $47,486.40 - $85,000.00 Annually
Qualifications
Requirements * Doctorate in a related field
* OR Master's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
* OR Bachelor's degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience
* OR Associate's degree in related field and six (6) years of related experience
Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Preferences * Demonstrated knowledge of complex concepts gained through advanced education/experience.
Key Skills * Attention to detail
* Ability to analyze experimental data, as well as planning experimental designs
