Education Requirements:

General Purpose of Job:
The Admissions Counselor is an integral member of the intake team, with particular expertise in conducting psychosocial and risk assessments to individuals seeking psychiatric care.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Admissions Counselor provides telephonic and in-person risk assessment to assist the physician in identification of appropriate level of care for potential patients. The Admissions Counselor is the initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff. The Admissions Counselor is responsible for the verification and prior authorization of insurance benefits as needed.

Our Medical Team is NOT contracted, but are staff members. We have a triple boarded Medical Director in pediatrics, psychiatry and child psychiatry), a Pediatric Doctor, and 2 Nurse Practitioners.
Our cohesive multidisciplinary teams, including medical staff, nurses, dietitians, case managers, therapists, and behavioral health counselors, that use creative treatment approaches to guide our patients to live a more independently and productively. We even have a year round accredited school system for our patients!

Cumberland Hospital for Children and Adolescents is a unique acute care, inpatient specialty hospital with 110 licensed beds, including Med Surg. and Residential Treatment Center; staffed by the finest physicians and treatment teams. We treat patients, ages 2-22 who have chronic illnesses, brain injuries and neurobehavioral disorders with co-behavioral issues.
