Role Summary:
Unison Industries, a wholly owned subsidiary of GE Aviation, is a world leader in the design and manufacture of electrical components, sensors and systems for aircraft, industrial, marine, military and space. Unison’s products span the globe and can be found on almost anything flying from two place trainer airplanes to giant 747’s and rockets traveling to space. We presently have an opening for a 2nd shift Inspector 3, working from 1:00PM-9:30PM.

Essential Responsibilities:
Complete first article inspection reports (FAIR) and document as required
Complete first piece inspection, visual plating inspection, in-process final electrical inspection (Final ATP) and
mechanical inspection
Proof pressure test 1500 lbs. PSI +
Re-certify expired chemicals
Educate assemblers in area on quality / inspection issues or concerns
Complete hermetic pressure test and helium leak check
Perform dielectric / hipot testing
Maintain control of final ATP records
Complete visual inspection of weld crimps / splices, wire / crimp
Complete circuit resistance, spring force test, continuity testing
Complete inspections of wall thickness, bonding (resistance), force test, weight
Check surface finish, connector orientation
Demonstrated understanding of operation of all inspection equipment within the department
Perform manual set up, test, and troubleshooting, including performance testing
Maintain test setup and procedures in inspection area
Able to use calipers, drop indicators, micrometers, thread gauges, pin gauges
Obtain ESD certification; Perform duties on more complex, prototype, or first time builds
Identify and document non-conforming parts while using Oracle to maintain inspection records
Utilize the Oracle ERP system to complete inspection records
Use statistical process control and statistical quality control techniques as required
Assist support functions in root cause corrective analysis
Use proper PPE, safety equipment, and follow safety procedures
Must be comfortable multi-tasking and working within deadlines
Participate in and support team initiatives
Cross train other employees as needed based upon knowledge and experience
Communicate with team to ensure all team members are aware of product deficiencies, new processes, and/or issues
Provide feedback to appropriate support functions
Use manual and automated measuring / testing equipment to assure product quality
Interaction with customer and auditors as required

Qualifications/Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
3 years inspection experience in a Manufacturing environment
Eligibility Requirements:
This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
Ability to use intermediate hand tools and measuring devices (i.e. – optical comparators, ohm meters, varian (leak check), CMM) as required
Willingness and ability to use basic computer applications (i.e. Oracle, Microsoft applications)
o Intermediate understanding of process instructions and blueprints
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, etc.), may have to perform metric conversions, conversions to decimals, and use geometry
Intermediate knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances
Intermediate knowledge of quality system requirements (i.e. – AS9100)
Proficient understanding of special processes such as brazing, soldering, welding, coating, etc. as required within the department
Obtain braze & weld inspection certifications as required
Must pass visual acuity exam
Physical Demands:
Ability to continuously lift 1-10 lbs., frequently lift 11-22 lbs., and occasionally lift 23-50 lbs
Ability to stand and walk continuously, as well as frequent bending, stooping, and crouching

Desired Characteristics:
3-5 years inspection experience
General knowledge of electrical components and test methods
Prior knowledge of electrical test method to include ohm meter, gauss meter, surge test, hi pot, etc
General knowledge of assembly techniques
Previous experience in a self-directed team environment
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
Lean manufacturing knowledge
