Overview:
This position oversees all radioactive material licenses, performance assessment efforts, and any amendments or modifications, and assists with all other regulatory matters associated with radioactive waste disposal. The role serves as the primary interface and contact for regulatory agencies regarding import/export applications and reporting. Ensures all license and permit reporting, systems, and documentation comply with regulatory requirements. Responsibilities:
- Directs and develops content for licensing submissions and amendments to regulatory bodies.
- Advises senior management on licensing strategy and new regulatory developments.
- Negotiates with licensing authorities regarding company filings.
- Manages all licensing activities and provides technical support to departments.
- Reviews proposed rulemakings and regulatory publications to stay updated on developments.
- Obtains necessary regulatory authorizations for company operations.
- Reviews and verifies accuracy of data sent to licensing authorities.
- Manages direct reports and ensures operational procedures are tracked and compliant.
- Establishes policies to ensure compliance with regulations and licenses.
Experience:
- Must have experience solving complex regulatory issues.
- Experience in licensing, permitting, or operations involving storage of spent nuclear fuel is desired.
- Comprehensive understanding of public health and environmental impacts associated with waste disposal and storage of nuclear fuel is desirable.
Supervision:
- Directly supervises compliance specialists.
- Responsibilities include hiring, training, planning, directing work, and resolving issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of ten years' experience in the nuclear industry, waste disposal, or regulatory oversight.
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in database, project management, spreadsheet, and word processing software.
Other Requirements:
- Must be able to travel up to 40% of the time. Physical Demands:
- Requires sitting and occasional standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required.
Work Environment:
- May be exposed to radiation.
- Noise level is typically quiet.
