This job can be described as: Responsible for compounding and mixing a variety of bulk products, including hazardous raw materials, according to specific formulas. Sets up, maintains and operates a variety of complex equipment and machinery. Fills containers, weighs and visually inspects finished product for quality. Works very closely with QC regularly. Must be capable of exercising judgment, troubleshooting and making informed decisions. Must possess thorough understanding of and the ability to work in multiple work centers. May oversee and /or direct the work others.
Job Model: On-Site
All fully remote positions will require you to travel on site 2-4 times per month depending upon business needs at your own expense.
Hybrid positions will require employees to work both on-site and remote each week under a schedule that has been determined and agreed upon by you and your manager.
On-Site positions will require employees to work on-site for each of their scheduled shifts.

A typical day at work would include: Consults manufacturing order to determine product to be mixed or compounded, quantity, and the size, type, and number of containers required for the compounding/mixing operation. Consults with Quality Control or Process Engineer to ensure that the batch card information is accurate and weights and percentages are correct. Retrieves appropriate vessel for mixing procedures, i.e. stainless steel vessel for water based materials. Coordinates with packaging department to ensure appropriate storage/and or shipping containers are available and prepared. Consults batch card and withdraws specified raw materials from stock. Uses scale to weigh raw material and pour the appropriate amount. Weighs any excess raw material, returns it to stock, records net weight. Visually inspects raw materials. Performs in process QC inspection, i.e., use grind gauges. Operates a variety of fork-trucks to retrieve raw material. Operates filling machines, drum lifts, compressors, hot ovens. Sets up and operates a variety of complex machinery, i.e., high -speed dissolvers, lightening mixer, planetary mixer, drum handling equipment, etc. Sets blade heights and speed (rpm) as needed. Utilizes ground wires when mixing all products and when dumping flammable products. Sets flow meters, weighs and adds material, activates by-pass pumps, activates mixers for proper R.P.M. at proper times. Remove and scrape blades. Submit sample to QC for inspection. Ensure proper Batch # is listed on batch card. Ensure product name and item # match. Perform various computer handheld transactions to ensure raw material is taken out of stock accurately. Prepare QC inspected/approved product into bulk form for specific customer orders, packaging and /or storage. Cleans all machines, tools, tanks and work area according to strict safety procedures. Disposes properly of hazardous waste in satellite accumulation drums. Ensure all tanks are tagged with critical information and present status, i.e., in-use/clean. Works under general direction. May inform work necessities to other employees as needed. Must exercise judgment in making decisions of critical nature related to quality of product and safety of operation. Highly skilled. Thorough understanding of multiple work centers and working knowledge of the entire operation. Must troubleshoot and make in-process quality control adjustments. Must possess strong math skills, and the ability to use a scale and make accurate adjustments. Must be trained in spill response and safety equipment. Experience you need coming into this job: Two plus years related experience. At least one year experience in chemical processing environment preferred. Must exercise judgment and direction in following written instructions and procedures. Ability to do heavy lifting up to approx. 70 pounds and handle drums weighing 400-700 pounds utilizing the prescribed material handling equipment such as a Drum dolly or fork truck. Must be willing to ask for help when needed. Must be able to operate fork-trucks, drum lifts and other equipment to assist in lifting of up to 6000 Pounds. Wear a respirator and work with hazardous materials, including flammables. Work under pressure and work well with others. Demonstrate mechanical aptitude to operate various machines and perform basic maintenance functions as needed. Understand and adhere to all safety procedures. Consequences of errors and/or poor decisions are significant in terms of product quality and safety. Works closely with Quality Control and Product Development and implement any corrective action as directed. Basic grammar skills. Basic computer skills. Strong understanding of chemical processing and an appreciation for safety issues. Must be willing to ask for help when needed. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision. Hazardous materials, high levels of heat and noise exist in the daily work environment. Must be able to work with blocked isocyanate.

Please note that the final salary offered for any position will be based on many factors, including but not limited to: candidate qualifications such as education and experience, internal equity, geographical location, and budget.
