Community Support Specialist About us Community Connections is a not-for-profit participatory grantmaking intermediary that awards grants, supports groups to complete innovative projects, and supports and builds community leadership to positively impact conditions in Detroit. Community groups and leaders are essential partners in creating lasting, equitable change. Community Connections is funded by various foundations, social service organizations, public-private partnerships, and other sources.
Community Support Specialist Position Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Community Support Specialist performs a variety of administrative, coordination and logistical services, and contributes to the overall strategic positioning of the program. This is a full time, contract position based in Detroit, MI.
Responsibilities · Perform various administrative and clerical tasks using a virtual filing system.
· Provide a point of contact for the program. Communication verbally, by email, & text.
· Support the development of grantees, constituents, and consultants.
· Provide support to staff and executive director via scheduling meetings, coordination, and communicating pertinent information.
· Coordinate the logistics of grant initiatives such as grantee meetings and final reporting.
· Manage online meetings via Zoom.
· Coordinate in person and online meetings and special events.
· Maintain databases, conduct analyses, organize and present data.
· Process final reports and use results from reports for social media & grant reporting.
· Maintain social media presence, create newsletters and mail campaigns.
· Manage office supply orders, vendor invoicing, expense reports, and equipment repair needs.
· Assist in the orientation of new staff, interns, consultants, and volunteers.
· Complete other projects as assigned by the Executive Director.
Preferred Skills/Experience · Familiarity and experience with Detroit communities and initiatives.
· Self-Directed, good at taking direction, willing to creatively contribute to program initiatives.
· High level of proficiency with Google Suite, Zoom, Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher) and social media platforms
· Knowledge of online form creation.
· Outstanding written and verbal communications skills, including formal presentation skills.
· Knowledge and/or experience with program evaluation is highly valued but not required.
· Reliable transportation.
· Significant aspects of the position require evening and weekend activities. Flexibility with work schedule. Qualification requirements: · A Baccalaureate degree and previous experience in an office/administrative setting or the equivalent combination of training and experience.
