Medical Associates of Erie is seeking a full time Clinical Assistant for a busy Physicians Practice. SUMMARY: To guarantee that each patient visit and the logistical arrangements surrounding the visit are carried out with courtesy, caring and consistency, while assisting the physician in patient care and education
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in patient care in the exam room as directed by physicianPerform clinical procedures under supervision of physicianEscort patients to exam rooms, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient's electronic health recordInterview patients to make sure all information in electronic medical record is complete and current, including obtaining all necessary signed authorizationsReview medical record for progress notes, specialist templates and diagnostic records prior to patient visit. Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filed, if available, in patient's electronic health record. (pre-visit planning/chart prep)Schedule tests, surgical procedures and coordinate referrals to provide continuous care for patientsObtain all necessary authorizations as mandated by patient's insuranceTrack referrals for the practice to completion (report/result received and patient notified)Perform lab draws, EKG's and administer injections.Provide education to patients, families, and caregivers regarding medication and treatment protocol as instructed by physicianKeep exam rooms and medication storage room stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as requiredTake telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy callsTriage for urgency and process messages from patients and front office staff to physiciansProvide response to patient inquiry and concerns with attention to confidentialityMaintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.)Keep patients in waiting area informed of any unusual delays in physicians' scheduleAll other duties as assignedSkills/Knowledge:
