Job Description: RESPONSIBILITIES : Full-time instructional position to teach courses in carpentry. This position will be in the Manufacturing Division of the college. Other duties will include, but are not limited to:
recruiting and interviewing prospective students developing and delivering curriculum maintaining and promoting a safe working environment managing the carpentry program and projects maintaining carpentry shop and equipment advising current students assisting in job placement for graduates maintaining an on-going relationship with industry obtaining OSHA 30 certification (minimum) within the first year of employment completing the teaching and learning competency requirement in first three years of employment Required Qualifications: Education Requirement Diploma from a carpentry program or completion of a registered carpentry apprenticeship program.
Occupational Experience Requirement Four full-time (or equivalent) years of verified related paid work experience as a carpenter.
Recency Requirement One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in cabinetmaking Contractor's license Leadwork experience Teaching/training/mentoring experience Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to work both independently and with a variety of people as a team member Ability to work with a diverse student body with a broad range of interests and abilities Willingness to stay current on carpentry/construction software applications Other Requirements: NOTICE : In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
