Preferred: Ability to develop and teach introductory and upper-level courses in networking, network security and cybersecurity. Experience with emerging technologies such as Internet-of-Things, blockchain, network automation programming, digital security, ethical hacking, etc. Experience in teaching and researching emerging technologies. Relevant industry certifications, such as CCNA.
Teaching and Research Requirements: Ability to teach existing courses, as well as teach/develop elective courses in their own area of expertise. Engage in professional development and scholarly activities. Successful applicants must show potential for research productivity that can be disseminated in quality peer-reviewed journals.
About the Department of Computer Science:
The University of Akron's Department of Computer Science offers programs in Computer Science and Information Systems. Additionally, we provide a comprehensive Master of Science degree, specifically in Computer Science.


Currently, the Department has 11 full-time faculty members, 8 tenure track and 3
non-tenure track. We currently have more than 750 undergraduate and graduate
students pursuing degrees in computing.
The Department of Computer Science at The University of Akron seeks applications for tenure-track Assistant Professor position starting by Fall 2024. Applicants are sought in all areas related to IT Infrastructure (including networking and/or cloud computing) and secure computing.
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a closely related field from an accredited institution at the start of employment. The successful candidate will develop and teach introductory and upper-level courses in networking, network security and cybersecurity. Preference will be given to applicants with experience with emerging technologies such as Internet-of-Things, blockchain, network automation programming, digital security, and ethical hacking etc. Successful applicants must show potential for research productivity that can be disseminated in quality peer-reviewed journals.
The selected candidate will also be expected to supervise undergraduate and graduate research, work collaboratively across campus, and contribute to professional, departmental, college, and university service activities.
