PAY AND BENEFITS Annual Pay Range: $45,772.23 - $57,351.80
Hourly Pay Range: $22.005880 - $27.572979
Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on a candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

JOB DETAILS AND QUALIFICATIONS Clackamas County Facilities Management Division seeks a dynamic and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Accounting Specialist 1.
In this role, you will be vital in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and exceptional service of the division's financial operations. The selected candidate will review payment requests, invoices, and purchasing cards for accuracy and proper authorization. They will input and reconcile financial data into systems like PeopleSoft Finance and internal tracking spreadsheets. Additionally, the Accounting Specialist 1 will respond promptly to inquiries and requests from team members and external vendors. In addition, our next Accounting Specialist 1 will assist in preparing journal entries for project costing and reconciling procurement card charges. They will maintain routine accounting files and prepare summaries and reports reflecting account status.

Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:* A minimum of one (1) year of related experience with basic accounting and bookkeeping that would provide the required knowledge and skills to perform the responsibilities of this position Demonstrated customer service skills and the ability to establish positive working relationships Knowledge of basic financial recordkeeping methods and practices Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel Must pass a criminal history check which may include national or state fingerprint records check Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:* Working experience in Accounting and Finance in a governmental setting At least one (1) year working experience in Accounts Receivable. TYPICAL TASKS Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
Reviews payment requests, invoices, and purchasing cards for accuracy, proper authorization, and application to the correct funding lines; calculates, posts, and reconciles amounts; verifies and inputs data into financial systems such as PeopleSoft Finance and internal tracking spreadsheet; identifies errors and posts adjusting entries; refers unusual or questionable items to higher-level staff. Maintains and updates payments for Contracted Services and Utilities; compares accounting records to various manual and computer reports to verify entries and balances; prepares routine manual and computer spreadsheets from identified source data; and enters information in the asset management system. Provides internal and external customer service; responds to various department and vendor requests for information relative to assigned function; provides information or services as authorized or refers to the appropriate individual for response. Assists in preparing interfunds; gathers the base information and supporting documentation; creates the interfund; scans and files associated documents; enters financial data into the work order system, such as zLink. Maintain routine accounting and general files; group documents for processing; sort documents in alphabetical and numerical order; compile information and prepare routine, recurring summaries and reports reflecting account status. Assist in preparing Journal Entries for project costing. Gather the Information and Supporting Documentation. Procurement Cards (P-cards) - Reconcile charges in PeopleSoft to entries made in the asset management system Back up to the front office administrative team and lobby support, including conference room setup, as needed. Auditing project costs before invoicing to ensure all costs are captured in the bill. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Working knowledge of: Basic methods and practices of financial recordkeeping; basic accounting and bookkeeping systems, procedures and techniques; financial terminology; basic financial information systems and spreadsheet software; basic math; office practices, procedures and equipment.
Skill to: Interpret and process financial documents according to appropriate procedures; accurately count, record and balance transactions; perform arithmetic calculations and enter data with speed and accuracy; operate a calculator, computer terminal, typewriter and other office equipment; provide customer service by effectively meeting and interacting with the public, coworkers and personnel of other departments in a courteous, professional manner; establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors and County employees; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

WORK SCHEDULE This position is included in the County's alternate workweek program, working 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Thursday (Fridays off). Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended. This position is designated as on-site/in-person. It is expected that the selected candidate will perform duties at the specified on-site work location.
