Academic Counselor

We are on the lookout for an enthusiastic individual to join our team in the role of Academic Advisor. This role is pivotal in providing comprehensive guidance to both current and prospective students, helping them navigate through our college/department programs and opportunities. As an Academic Advisor, you'll play a crucial role in assisting students with their educational journey, from program entry to successful degree completion.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Offer professional academic advising to students throughout their entire degree program journey, acting as a supportive liaison for our department.
Provide personalized academic guidance to students pursuing both Graduate and Undergraduate degrees.
Deliver timely advisement services to students, with a focus on facilitating degree completion efficiently.
Develop and share degree plans and course recommendations to support online students in achieving their educational goals.
Address student inquiries via email, telephone, and virtual platforms such as Zoom.
Fulfill any additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Possess familiarity with higher education, particularly within the context, along with excellent interpersonal skills for engaging with prospective students.
Demonstrate technical proficiency to develop and utilize automated communication plans with prospects.
Exhibit strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities, coupled with a student-centered philosophy.
Ability to manage stress, adapt to a dynamic environment, and adhere to ethical standards.
Proficiency in computer-based advising systems, as well as Microsoft Word and Excel.
General Days/Hours:
Monday to Friday
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested or required
Consistent and punctual attendance is expected

This role is identified as a telecommuting position. Individuals must have a dedicated workspace ensuring privacy and security, along with secure internet access meeting job requirements.
Reports to the Program Director of and collaborates with admissions personnel.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent formal education.
