Job Summary:
As an SBA Underwriter/VP, you will play a pivotal role in assessing the creditworthiness of small business loan applications, including SBA 7(a), USDA, and SBA 504 loans. Your responsibilities will include conducting thorough analyses, preparing credit memoranda, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure adherence to bank and SBA policies and procedures. While primarily remote, this role may involve occasional travel to Las Vegas, NV, to support local business calls and client meetings.
Key Responsibilities:

3. Analyze SBA, USDA, and small business loan files to evaluate creditworthiness based on established policies and guidelines.
4. Prepare comprehensive credit memoranda outlining financial strengths, risk assessments, and loan structures.
5. Review borrower and guarantor financial information to make informed credit decisions, ensuring sufficient cash flow and compliance with DSCR requirements.
6. Conduct industry research and gather relevant data to assess loan risks and opportunities.
7. Collaborate with Business Development Officers to gather additional information on prospective borrowers and assess credit risks.
8. Establish loan structures, terms, and collateral conditions in accordance with SBA and bank guidelines.
9. Communicate credit decisions effectively to supervisors and loan committees, both verbally and in writing.
10. Maintain strong internal and external relationships with stakeholders, including clients, legal counsel, and third-party vendors.
11. Manage assigned loan transactions, ensuring compliance with all conditions and timely completion of documentation.
12. Provide ongoing evaluation and feedback on loan processing quality and suggest improvements as needed.
13. Coordinate with external vendors to facilitate timely completion of title, environmental, and appraisal reports.
14. Maintain accurate loan information in the bank's system and recommend analytical tools and procedures to streamline loan approvals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in finance, banking, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of banking experience, with a background in financial analysis or credit review preferred.
- Knowledge of SBA SOP, commercial lending products, and compliance regulations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to analyze complex problems and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to travel occasionally and perform job duties remotely.
