Job Description and Duties The Position is headquartered in Sacramento.
Under the direction of the Technical Services & Infrastructure Support Branch Chief, the Information Technology Specialist (ITS) I performs a wide variety of tasks requiring regular innovative problem- solving within broadly stated and non-specific guidelines. The ITS I is primarily responsible for overall System Administration duties for the California Department of Aging (CDA). The CDA technical environment consists of on-prem and cloud based solutions and includes various Windows Servers with file and print services, Intranet, SharePoint/OneDrive, Teams, Microsoft Exchange/Outlook messaging services and multiple models of Windows workstations. It also includes firewalls, switches and Wi-Fi equipment.

Working Conditions The physical work location of the position is designated at the department's headquarters location, a three-story building and standard office modular workspace located in Natomas. The duties of the position require sitting for long periods of time while using a personal computer, reviewing documents, and attending meetings whether they are digital (i.e., Zoom, WebEx, MS Teams, etc.) or in person.
Special Requirements This position is designated under the  . The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete  within 30 days of appointment and once per year. Failure to comply with the Conflict of Interest Code requirements may void the appointment.

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
Ability to travel to and from our field office, without delay, to troubleshoot and repair equipment. Ability to identify and resolve problems while maximizing efficient use of computing resources. Self-motivated, independent, highly reliable, problem-solver, collaborator. Experienced with deployment and troubleshooting of Server and Desktop Operating Systems, Software and Hardware. Experience planning, testing, implementing and/or integrating new solutions. Demonstrated excellence in customer service and the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with customers and stakeholders. Experience with administration of Network systems and solutions such as Wi-Fi controllers, Firewalls and Managed Switches.
