Software Release Management and Calibration Integration Engineer I Location Hybrid work in Detroit, MI : Inside the Role This is an entry level release management engineer position within the TT/S organization. In this role you will bring your enthusiasm and creativity into the creation and implementation of release management framework for Detroit Diesel business unit of Daimler Truck. As part of this role, you will be responsible for supporting the release management lifecycle which includes scheduling, coordinating and the management of releases for the powertrain release management team within the "Verification & Release Management" department. The releases can be inclusive of application SW updates, calibration and parametrization. Where necessary you'll provide tools and services to help product management and project teams manage and deploy releases at multiple phases of the product lifecycle. Part of this role is ensuring communication between all departments that are part of the Software and Calibration Release process, and are impacted by the software release schedules. In addition, you will support the Release Management Process for the CF "Verification & Release Management", including maintaining the Release Tickets / Release Packages. What You Drive at DTNA Play a key role in the release of reliable propulsion software packages for Detroit's development cycles, which eventually deliver high quality SW releases for production and aftersales of conventional and alternative propulsion systems. Coordinate integration of partial datasets into software & calibration releases for in-house developed xCM software using AVL Creta lifecycle management tool. Track all releases that have been and are to be implemented (development programs, sustaining programs, current production), and maintains, documents, and reports key release metrics. Manage risks and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality. Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time to key stakeholders and program milestones. Work in a complex cross-functional environment, with continuously shifting priorities, and requiring interaction with large diverse teams of features, systems, functions and calibration owners. Translate broader project, sustaining, certification and manufacturing timelines into development cycles for SW, functions/calibrations. Track and support deliverables of TT/X & TT/S software/functions/calibrations teams. Work with our Daimler Truck global and regional partners/collaborators to cross-pollinate best practices, tools and CRA processes, related to SW release management and function/calibration integration. Develop and deploy tools, processes, methods and KPIs, to enable efficient development/coordination of SW releases/calibrations, for best in class propulsion features and systems Communicate status and risks to peers, teams, and management. Independently schedule work plan according to project priorities, and cross-functional/team deliverables. Improve knowledge and skills through training, actively identify areas of potential self-improvement, and alert management of opportunities for training. Maintain a professional workplace and organized documentation and files pertaining to project work assignments. Knowledge You Should Bring BS or MS in Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering, or related field of study with 0-2 years of experience Understanding of partial datasets integration and change management for conventional or alternative powertrain ECUs Experience with industry standard calibration tools (example - Marc, CRETA, CANAPE) Some experience in program management. Familiarity with embedded SW development process. Familiarity with EPA/CARB certification process. Experience identifying and solving the root cause of complex problems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience preparing technical presentations. Demonstrated strong verbal & written skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a team as well as being able to execute independently Exceptional Candidates Might Have Knowledge or familiarity with Detroit Diesel and Daimler Truck products Experience developing propulsion features and systems for diesel and/or e-powertrain. Understanding of Daimler Truck engineering and manufacturing processes, especially pertaining to SW implementation. Experience in embedded SW implementation, or SW based tools implementation. Experience leading and coordinating cross functional teams, or as a project lead, or mentoring experience. Data analytics or KPI experience with databases and visualization tools like Tableau.
