Senior Payroll Accountant Location Arlington, VA (Aurora Highlands area) : Riverside Overview: Riverside Research is an independent National Security Nonprofit dedicated to research and development in the national interest. We provide high-end technical services, research and development, and prototype solutions to some of the country's most challenging technical problems. All Riverside Research opportunities require U.S. Citizenship. Position Overview: Lead administrator for all activities related to the payroll function. Ensures the generation of the company payroll, including labor distribution records, vacation and sick leave accrual, overtime and withholding status. Meets all government reporting requirements for payroll taxes, withholding and employer contributions. May be responsible for sales tax payment and/or stock option administration. Responsibilities: Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll including semi monthly and weekly payroll. Process weekly and semi monthly timesheets. Process leave and reconcile. Process adjustments and other requests from the HR and/or Benefits teams. Perform duties that require an understanding of Riverside's payroll policies and procedures and collaborate on cross-functional projects. Assist with the development of payroll policies, payroll calendars, payroll checklists, process maps and other procedural documentation. Act as the primary resource for employee payroll related processes and questions, including calculation of wages, deductions (including taxes), PTO, and other related inquiries. Work with the Accounting Manager and/or the Controller to reconcile accrued payroll or other payroll liability accounts. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: A minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree Deltek Costpoint experience. Experience in payroll applications such as ADP, UKG, or Paylocity. Extensive knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills to manage uploads and files. Exhibit critical thinking and analytical skills Detail-oriented andorganized Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to think through complex problems, determine proper processes, derive accounting conclusions, and present results to the team Able to multi-task, prioritize, and manage projects/tasks in a fast-paced environment Global Comp: $90,000 - $100,000 This represents the typical compensation range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.
