Position Summary:
The Counseling Program at Trinity Washington University is seeking faculty candidates with teaching and professional experience in a K-12 school setting, and who have achieved their doctoral degree from a CACREP-accredited University or College for an Assistant Professor position, starting in the Fall of 2024. The position is in Category B, which is non-tenure track. Specifically, we seek individuals with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion who have worked with diverse and underrepresented student populations and possess a passion for and experience teaching in higher education. Position Responsibilities and Expectations: Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision with robust K-12 experience in School Counseling from a CACREP-Accredited College or University (Required); Training and professional experience to teach applied courses in a Masters-level School Counseling Program (Required); Professional experience as a School Counselor with appropriate certification (Required); Knowledge and experience implementing the ASCA National Model and CACREP standards are required. Teach 3-4 courses per semester in Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters; this is a 12-month 3-semester position; Infuse curriculum with multicultural, social justice, and advocacy competencies; and integrate the current research on trauma and the epigenetics of trauma Provide academic advising and mentoring to Masters School Counseling Students; Undertake scholarship, research, and community service-related activities; and Perform other assigned duties related to the position Other Responsibilities: Course Revision and Development: Revise courses on a scheduled basis and develop new courses, when needed; Recruitment: Assist with the admissions process in interviewing, evaluating, and selecting qualified applicants; Advising: Advise and mentor graduate students each semester and assist students with remediation and retention processes, when necessary; CACREP accreditation: Participate in the ongoing assessment of the program, the curriculum, and student learning; Demonstration of professional involvement preferred; Evidence of scholarly publications and related scholarly work preferred; Strong working knowledge and understanding of established professional codes of ethics and best practices; Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills including the ability to work with diverse groups; Ability to work collaboratively as a member of professional and community groups.
