The Elcock Laboratory in the Department of Biochemistry in the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine has an opening for a temporary part-time (50%) research assistant position. Candidates must have completed a degree in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and have experience with running and analyzing long time-sale explicit-solvent molecular dynamics simulations of bacterial lipid bilayers. Familiarity with the GROMACS molecular dynamics software is necessary and a working knowledge of how to make structure predictions using AlphaFold2 and related methods is desirable. Candidates must have strong quantitative skills as well as strong verbal and written communication skills.
