We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Managing Editor to lead our editorial team covering a prominent B2B technology channel. As the Managing Editor, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and execution of the editorial strategy, ensuring that all published content aligns with the brand's audience, mission, and vision.
This is a highly collaborative role where you'll work closely with a team of on-staff writers, freelancers, SEO specialists, and business development representatives. You'll coordinate with other Managing Editors to ensure consistent publishing standards across the entire site. Additionally, you'll partner with the Content Operations team to source and recruit freelancers, and collaborate with the Creative team to develop supporting graphics and videos.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage the quarterly backlog and monthly editorial calendar
- Establish a solid communication pipeline between Operations, Revenue, Media Personality, and Editorial teams
- Manage and mentor a team of writers, freelancers, and copy editors
- Oversee freelancer assignments and approve invoices
- Ensure appropriate resource allocation for all editorial assignments
- Monitor and ensure the topic meets production goals and stays within budget
- Conduct quality reviews and edit content as needed
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years in an editorial leadership role, including management of on-staff writers and freelancers
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in the publishing industry
- Comprehensive understanding of editorial strategy for B2B technology coverage
- Proven experience with the IT channel industry
- Working knowledge of SEO and revenue best practices (preferred)
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and continuously adapt strategies to drive business needs
