SALARY The minimum salary is $44,873.92 annually.
This position is not eligible for overtime (exempt); however, the city has a compensatory time leave program for employees that grants leave time for hours worked in excess of forty hours.

FILING DEADLINE DATE The deadline to apply is Monday, June 3, 2024 GENERAL DESCRIPTION The purpose of this classification is to organize, develop and supervise specialty recreation programs and activities for any assigned location or facility.
This position oversees outdoor recreation and nature education activities which includes supervising programs such as archery, outdoor skills, camping skills, and natural areas programs outreach.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in a field related to the job Two (2) years of related experience Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience Additional years of related experience may substitute for years of education ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Develops, implements, and supervises program and/or facility activities and events Plans and conducts public outdoor nature programs and camps throughout Lexington Parks Coordinates with other Parks and Recreation areas to conduct a variety of environmental and nature-related programs Engages the community in outdoor nature programming and recreational opportunities Connects the public to the natural world through environmental and conservation education and the facilitation of outdoor recreation opportunities, including archery, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, and more Coordinates efforts to improve programs through program evaluation, community outreach and marketing Recruits, trains, supervises and evaluates the work of subordinates, volunteers and contractors Oversees program and facility budgeting, finances and purchasing Performs administrative duties related to goals, objectives and performance including but not limited to scheduling, data entry, reporting, and maintaining inventory of supplies Enforces rules and regulations of recreational facilities to maintain compliance and ensure safety; oversees facility maintenance and repairs, as needed Performs related work as assigned SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION Valid Driver's License First Aid and CPR/AED Certifications must be obtained within first six (6) months of employment This position must obtain USA Archery Level 1 instructor certification within the first twelve (12) months of employment SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to work weekends and evenings, holidays, perform on-call duty and split shifts when required to best serve the public in offering recreational opportunities.
