COMPANY PROFILE The Plant Company (TPC) is a newly established business currently moving into its Phase 2 production facility. Phase 2 encompasses a 10-acre greenhouse facility along with a 1.5-acre production barn. This is a state-of-the-art, controlled environment greenhouse for the sustainable production of tropical indoor foliage plants of consistent and exceptional quality.

Caring About People, Plants, and Process Growth Oriented Customer First "Can Do" Attitude JOB SUMMARY Daily QC analysis of incoming and outgoing live good products and implementation of R&D growing efforts. In this role, you will plan, organize, direct, control, and coordinate activities related to cultivating R&D plants. Evaluate crops using data-driven analysis, construct reports, and implement internal growth specifications.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Research, Trialing, & Development Data-driven plant vendor evaluation. Inspect incoming plant material quality including size, form, and condition. Inspect incoming and greenhouse plant material for disease and pests. Determine optimal plant growing conditions and processes for trial plant material. Apply Plant Growth Regulators and fertilizers to plants in coordination with the Growing team. Tour work areas to observe work and evaluate plant and soil conditions. Ability to work in a team and independently. Horticultural Knowledge Maintain the trial crops by pinching, pruning, and cutting back in conjunction with the Lead Grower, Section Grower, and the planning department. Record and report inputs such as water, fertilizer, and PGR, on all trial crops for all stages from the beginning to the end of the crop cycle. Ensure all required samplings are done on time, this includes EC and pH measurement, soil analysis for EC and pH, media, and foliar sampling for lab analysis depending on the requirement. Work closely with all stakeholders to foster teamwork. R&D team members are expected to coordinate work amongst the team and communicate clearly with other TPC team members and managers to keep work flowing at an efficient pace. Communicate Vendor feedback and recommendations effectively to the Growing team so that the best planting/growing methods are followed for trial plants. Support other departments. Recordkeeping & Technical Knowledge Maintain or fix some minor technical problems in your area of responsibility. Consistent irrigation system inspection to make sure that the moisture requirement is up to standard. Manage daily assignments and priorities from the R&D Manager to maintain the top health and quality of plants. Learn and accurately identify irrigation and nutritional needs of various crops and carry out watering and fertilizing as needed. Ensure all data are recorded and kept according to the requirements set forth by the R&D team. Safety, Housekeeping, & Compliance Ensuring that the activities within your area adhere to all company and regulatory protocols, policies, and processes. Keeping and maintaining the sanitation standards in your area of responsibility according to standard operating procedures (SOPs). Responsible for making sure that the area under your responsibility is following WPS standards. Ensuring that the equipment for growing purposes is in proper working conditions. Inspect and maintain the area of responsibility, making sure that all necessary structures and equipment are in order and functioning. Adherence to all applicable HSE regulations and processes. Assess trial plant health daily to identify and report any disease, insect problem, or other abnormalities. Work with growers and our spectacular team to identify new ways to improve processes in the areas of logistics, placement, etc. Test and document new methods. Upkeep of the physical greenhouse, including walkways and work areas each day. REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES: Self-starter with ability to problem solve and good decision-making skills. Ability to do repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail and high-quality standards. Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and work independently or with the team toward a solution. Ability to determine causes of operating errors. Positive attitude and team player. Excellent communication skills. Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School diploma required. Bachelor's degree or higher in Greenhouse, Horticulture, Botany, or Science field encouraged. One (1) year of relevant job experience. Understanding of horticulture and agricultural practices. Familiarity with working in a greenhouse and understanding of plant propagation. Basic computer skills including: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to bend, twist, turn, climb, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds frequently throughout the workday. Working with and around approved agricultural chemicals and pesticides required. Must be able to wear a respirator.
