IDM Hospitality is seeking a professional, organized, and reliable individual to join our Finance Department as a Property Accountant I. In this role, you will work independently as a part of a small team who offers accounting services across our portfolio of hotels and restaurant. SUMMARY SCOPE OF ROLE In this role, IDM's Property Accountant I will play an integral role when it comes to our team's overall success. This highly skilled, detail-oriented individual will consistently leverage multitasking to play a leading role within different parts of the accounting department, including accounts receivable, journal and ledger entries, tracking of daily deposit information and tax submittals. In addition, the Property Accountant I will assist in handling aspects of month-end bookkeeping, preparation of financial reports, and audits. MINIMUM EDUCATION/RELEVANT WORK QUALIFICATIONS An associate degree or technical certification from an accredited college or university in accounting or a related field is preferred. OR At least 4 years of experience in a similar accounting position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions: Working with members of the accounting department to compile, analyze, and report financial data for all of IDM's hotels and their outlets Performing/auditing regular journal or ledger entries Support to the preparation of weekly, monthly, and yearly financial reports Assisting with property audits while identifying and resolving discrepancies Act as a point of contact between property level departments and accounting, while serving as a liaison between accounting and external parties, including suppliers and lenders. Using bookkeeping software and entering information into company files or databases, ensuring that all financial records are complete and accurate Performing bank reconciliations Providing support to the month-end closing processes Enforcing financial and inventory controls ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS Provide back-up support to other positions within the accounting department Provide training to new team members and property-level users as needed Communicate and consult with appropriate corporate office support departments as necessary Support the office environment with distribution in mail and use of networked office machines (postage meter, copier, etc.) Provide phone coverage for the main office Provide coverage/support for Property Account II when needed KEYS TO SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE INCLUDE Executing final results with a strong attention to detail Provide excellent customer service to our internal and external clients Take a customer-forward service-orientated approach to respond to requests and questions from associates, General Managers and office staff. Must be able to effectively prioritize phone calls, in person and email inquiries while also completing regular tasks. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; ability to build relationships Ability to maintain accuracy while meeting tight deadlines. EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK HOURS This is a full-time hourly position with an average of 40 hours per week expected. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES The Property Accountant reports directly to the Corporate Controller and has no supervisory responsibilities based on function of position. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to clearly verbally communicate with employees and public, speak, hear, see, read, write, type, dial, reach, and bend. This is principally a sedentary position. Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with visitors, supervisors and other team members. Ability to work primarily with fingers to pick, pinch, type and carry out substantial movements (motions) of the wrists and hands as well. Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, 10-key adding machine, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, photocopiers, and other office equipment as needed. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS Limited and infrequent travel (up to 10%) including car, train and/or airline travel along with overnight stays, will be required as we operate properties in multiple states.
