Process Research Chemist
Our client is a leading chemical manufacturer in Charlotte, NC, specializing in a broad range of styrene-butadiene, styrene-acrylic, and acrylic emulsion polymers. They are currently seeking an experienced Process Research Chemist to join their team.
This individual will play a crucial role in supporting research and development (R&D) and manufacturing, focusing on the implementation, scale-up, and optimization of production recipes. The successful candidate will collaborate with various teams to drive product improvements and ensure smooth transitions from R&D to commercialization.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, plan, and track projects related to product performance, specifications, and quality. Research and develop methods to increase productivity, decrease costs, and maintain product quality. Collaborate with manufacturing to improve equipment and design advanced systems for handling diverse product mixes. Apply research theories and principles to conduct experiments related to recipe and process issues. Communicate progress on transitioning products from scale-up to full commercialization, identifying improvements as needed. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering. 10+ years of experience in the chemical industry, with at least 5 years in emulsion polymers chemistry. Detailed knowledge of latex product/process development and scale-up. Proficiency in analytical techniques for problem-solving. Ability to work effectively in teams and across departments. High level of initiative and adaptability. Strong mentoring and leadership skills. Excellent decision-making capabilities. Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of pressure reactions experience. Experience working in a chemical production environment. Familiarity with process control systems and equipment maintenance/troubleshooting.
