The Division of Biomedical Informatics (Internal Medicine Department) at the University of Kentucky has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral scholar position to pursue federally funded research. The position involves designing natural language processing (NLP) methods and building NLP models toward end-user applications in biomedicine and healthcare. General NLP tasks are text classification, named entity recognition, and relation extraction from textual data. The application domains are drug abuse, biomedical knowledge discovery, cancer, and mental health conditions.
Responsibilities include (a) novel methods development and application to tasks on hand, (b) writing code and maintaining the corresponding project-specific GitHub repositories, and (c) first authoring papers and helping students as a co-author.
