Plant Process Engineer Location Winthrop, MN : Heartland Corn Products (HCP), an employer with less than 100 employees, has a great opportunity within our Corn Processing plant in Winthrop, MN. Heartland Corn Products was founded in 1992 as a farmer-owned cooperative and is one of Minnesota's first ethanol producers. As a farmer owned cooperative of approximately 900 patrons, HCP has steadily expanded over the years. HCP produces ethanol, dried distillers grains (DDGS), and crude corn oil. HCP employs approximately 67 full-time employees.
JOB SUMMARY: The Plant Process Engineer identifies and executes capital or continuous improvement projects that increase the profitability and reliability of the facility. The Plant Engineer reports directly to the CEO and assists the Production Manager and Plant Manager in the day-to-day management of the operations of the plant facility. The Plant Engineer analyzes the existing plant operations and identifies areas for improvement, while also facilitating the implementation of solutions to enhance operational performance focused on bottlenecks and energy efficiency. The Plant Engineer provides clear and frequent communication while modeling a highly collaborative working environment within a dynamic team structure.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None JOB RESPONSIBILITES (include but are not limited to): Process Improvement: · Improves the process by recommending changes in operations, controls, equipment, procedures, parameters, operational theory and other related items
· Performs/Supports activities related to the design, modification and operation of process equipment in the ethanol plant
· Reviews the process equipment and operating data in order to provide guidance to plant leadership to improve operations
· Analyzes and interprets plant operating data for opportunities to improve production, efficiencies, yields and operating costs
· Develops and monitors KPI for process equipment and provides recommendations for improved operations
· Provides onsite support for execution and operation of recommended process changes
· Provides support for process trials through development, execution and evaluation of results
· Assist in communicating regularly with all process operators, both individually and as a group, to ensure consistent operation among the shifts

Project Management: · Develops technical specifications to procure equipment and services
· Prepares justification, cost estimates and other project documents as required for approval
· Manages the development of projects from conception through completion and provides process support following execution
· Provides oversight of installation, startup and performance testing of multiple projects concurrently
· Serves as liaison between plant operations and outside engineering resources for large capital projects
· Performs design work and supervision for other assigned tasks to ensure they are completed safely, accurately and efficiently
· Coordinate special projects as directed
Compliance: · Assist in the development and continuous updating of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
· Assist in the maintaining of regulatory requirements under EPA Title V, OSHA, FSMA and keeping the process areas within those associated parameters
· Maintain updated plant P&ID drawings and block flow diagrams to ensure the plant is accurately represented
Training: · Acquire knowledge of the standards, procedures, methods, and leadership skills to facilitate advancement to management
· Serves as a technical resource for other departments
· Provides support and expertise in Turnaround execution
ESSENTIAL SKILLS and ABILITIES: Demonstrated performance in working in a team environment along with strong influencing skills required Ability to maintain courteous, professional and effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization Ability to communicate information and state problems or challenges to be resolved in a clear, concise, courteous, nondiscriminatory and professional manner and be able to provide clarification as necessary Capable of adapting, with minimal or no advance notice, to changes in how business is conducted and work is accomplished, with no diminishment in work performance Work effectively with the plant's Control System and instruct others on its operation EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: · Bachelor's degree (or higher-level degree) in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering required
· At least two years of related engineering experience required
· Strong knowledge of chemical, food, or fuel production process and technology required
· Extensive experience in building databases and analyzing data
· Capital Project management experience preferred
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office software required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: · Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
· Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
