General Description The purpose of this class within the organization is to supervise and lead a crew in performing a variety of tasks in the maintenance, repair and operation of Parks & Recreation centers, buildings, facilities, grounds, and parks.
This class works under close to general supervision according to set procedures, but determines how or when to complete tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job/class as necessary. Essential Functions: Identifies and communicates clear expectations and goals; monitors progress and evaluates performance; provides on-going coaching and feedback; identifies training and/or development needs; addresses performance issues in a firm and prompt manner; communicates consequences of not improving performance; embraces and promotes the City's Performance Management Process; uses the City's Performance Management System to establish and monitor department/individual goals and document the progress of direct reports through journal entries.
Strives to be efficient and effective at balancing and meeting the common needs and reasonable expectations of core constituents.
Contributes towards the department's mission by continuously striving to meet expectations, strategic goals and objectives.
Performs building and facility maintenance and repairs including, but not limited to painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC and other trade skills.
Oversees maintenance and repairs of Cato golf course.
Assists in washing and painting buildings, facilities and equipment.
Assists in maintaining and repairing parks and recreational buildings, facilities and equipment;
Assists in applying chemicals and/or pesticides as necessary and required.
Oversees small and special projects.
Performs equipment maintenance and repair.
Assists in the set up and take down of various parks and recreational equipment.
Additional Duties: Drives various trucks and operates heavy equipment.
Orders materials and supplies.
Oversees and assists in the construction of new facilities.
Assists in the set-up and take down for special events.
Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Requires a High School Diploma or GED and three (3) years of experience in the maintenance/repairs of recreation facilities or public parks, landscaping, or other closely related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience providing the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the job.

Ability to understand and comply with City and departmental guidelines, policies, procedures and expectations.
