Turner Industries Group is hiring a Packaging and Shipping Foreman for a maintenance site in the Baton Rouge, LA area. The candidate must have a minimum of 2 years' experience in a foreman role. The Forman will exercise independent judgement, supervise and direct workers.
General Job Description: Exercises independent judgment, supervises and directs a group of workers to safely operate a packaging and shipping department. Responsible for product quality/product contamination, safe operation and basic troubleshooting of equipment. Train and develop workers on application of operating procedures and safety standards. Conduct safety meetings with the team. Set safety and performance expectations for the team. Perform field observations and provide feedback to workers and business team. Feedback and accountability may include disciplining workers as needed. Complete daily foreman log sheet and shift handover as part of incoming / outgoing responsibilities. The foreman position is part of a 24/7 operation. The individual will be required to work a 12 hour shift schedule that includes day shift, night shift, weekends, and overtime as needed. The foreman will also review other workers paperwork for accuracy and completion.
Functional Requirements: Executing written and/or verbal orders; assigns duties, lines up and follows up all work and is responsible for production of the warehouse; inspects work to ensure adherence to company standards; trains and assists workers in performance of their duties; supervises and coordinates activities of assigned workers; interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations; analyzes and resolves work related problems; implements safety programs; ensures job site materials and equipment are in good condition; may maintain time, production and other records. Communication skills to effectively communicate within the workgroup and communicate with other site personnel involved with packaging and shipping. Basic desktop computer and mobile computer device skills to enter product quality data, correspond through email, etc.
Qualification Standards: Minimum two (2) years experience as a Foreman/Supervisor Written pre-employment qualification test Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others in the work place Physical Involvement: Employee may be required to do the following: wear a safety harness to access elevated platforms, climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.; reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools equipment, etc.; standing; sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; crawling; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction.
Mental Involvement: Employee will be required to do the following: following set procedures and standards; applying basic mathematical skills; planning work and selecting proper tools; comparing and understanding differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects; picturing and evaluating solid objects from drawings or diagrams using standards that can be measured or checked; following oral and/or written directions, plans and blueprints; reading; writing; ability to recognize and report safety hazards. It is imperative for the foreman to be able to follow set procedures and practices to lead the team by example.
