The role of the Pastry Cook is to assist in the preparation and baking of high-quality desserts, pastries, and other sweet goods for Restaurants and Cafes and catered events at the Oregon Convention Center.
Primary Functions:
Prepare a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, brownies, cheesecakes, plated desserts, and more, according to standardized recipes.
Decorate desserts and pastries using different toppings and techniques to ensure a beautiful and consistent guest presentation
Assist in the preparation and production of all pastry items according to the highest standards and menu planning.
Possess attentive, accountable and highly organization skills with the ability to plan multiple activities and meet deadlines.
Serves meals or prepares for delivery by using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring that food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty. Tastes all prepared food items.
Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness. Stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures.
Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat. Ensures food and supply items are stored per standards.
Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed.
Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers.
Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
