Paradise Valley Education Association Operations Assistant Based in Phoenix, AZ Paradise Valley Education Association (PVEA) is looking for a reliable and organized Operations Assistant (OA) to assist with the management of daily logistics and activities of a local union affiliated with the Arizona Education Association and National Education Association. In this position, you will contribute in an administrative capacity by assisting/supporting our leadership on projects, acting as a liaison between the union and the school district, organizing and managing union events, managing membership processing and dental insurance programs, and playing a key role in annual elections. This full-time position allows a flexible work schedule depending on the time of year and the current needs of the local union. Some weekends and evenings may be required.
Essential Functions: Membership Management This position will provide membership support for general questions, new member information, and team membership drives, as well as manage all membership processing for new and existing members. This includes working with the school district personnel for the beginning of the year database setup, ongoing reconciliation, and the year-end AEA (Arizona Education Association) database cleanup. Event Management The OS will work with leadership to secure venues for and manage approximately 5 medium to large events annually and 6 smaller regular events/meetings. The Executive Board of PVEA meets 2-4 times per month in person. The OA will ensure that all facilities have been reserved and that the meeting space is set up before the meetings begin. Dental Insurance Management Our union offers a dental HMO plan for members. At the beginning of each new year, the OA will work with the district payroll department to finalize all member dental insurance payroll deductions, reconcile dental billing with member dental deductions, manage new enrollments, and review bi-weekly dental payroll deductions for accuracy. Elections Responsible for building ballots in the AEA election system for various elections, building Google Form ballots for all school site representative elections, and working with the election chairperson to communicate election results and resolve election issues. General Office Responsibilities Financial: Banking, payment of monthly bills, preparation of monthly purchase and deposit requisitions, and miscellaneous check requests (QuickBooks & BILL.com) Preparation of all facility requests Management of office and member promotional supplies Communicate with members as needed via email or by phone Qualifications:

Proven work experience managing or supporting operations or similar role Self-motivated and able to work independently Excellent problem-solving skills and experience with finding solutions Proficient in all Google Suite applications Strong time management, prioritization, and multitasking abilities Experience managing events Excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with members Positive attitude Compensation:
Salary range is dependent on relevant experience and competitive with similar positions. Compensation includes a competitive salary and paid holidays; a benefits package or compensation in lieu will be determined based on individual needs.
