Description:The Mining Professional Engineer provides mining engineering services, analyses, calculations and functions for the State of Montana. Responsibilities include providing engineering review to assess the design and implementation of structures, devices, systems and processes for mining compliance in areas that have been or will be disturbed by mining. Assessing and responding to permit applications, amendments and revisions. Performing engineering analysis to determine whether facilities, equipment and industrial processes are constructed and operated in compliance with rules and permit requirements. Calculating reclamation bonds, verifying the amount of bond required for complete reclamation of mining operations, and reviewing requests for bond release. Reviewing and implementing state and federal statutes, rules, and policies. Acting as an engineering liaison for the Department to the public and industry on matters associated with engineering designs, processes, products and policies.
