Milieu Therapist I

This position supports all inpatient units , providing exposure to different patient populations as well as a variety of mental health diagnoses. Responsibilities will include performing assigned tasks within a multi-disciplinary team, emphasizing therapeutic activities conducted with assigned individuals and groups. Unit assignment will vary based upon census and team staffing needs . Candidates must be able to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.  The starting rate for the Milieu Therapist I is $18.54. Compensation will commensurate based on experience. Hires for our Resource team will receive a 10% shift differential increase in addition to standard pay rate. Responsibilities: Maintain competency requirements. Learn and utilize up-to-date technology and practices in the delivery of patient care.
Attend a minimum of 1 unit based on Institute's comprehensive in-service yearly.
Facilitate or co-facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic activity groups effectively. Encourage or assist patients in performing activities of daily living. Accompany patients to out-of-building activities and appointments. Document in the Medical Record according to established policies. Manage crisis situations effectively using positive approaches. Demonstrate effective milieu management skills, which promote positive patient experiences. Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment. Provide clinical interventions assessed by client needs. Coordinate patient groups and activities. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and other activities. Maintain ongoing communication with appropriate staff. Perform assigned work in a timely and productive manner.
